Following a lawsuit on behalf of the Edison Electric Institute, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has improved its electrical power generation, transmission and distribution and electrical protective equipment standard.

The new rule went into effect last April in order to reduce accidents associated with electrical equipment such as falls and electrocution. To better implement this regulation, OSHA has recently issued enforcement memorandums as well as surveys  with the goal of better understanding the assimilation of the new rule in workplace environments.

Mary Miller, the chief administrative officer at the Edison Electrical Institute, was present at these meetings.
